Chambray, Pastels and Pearls ft. CS Gems!

You guys won’t believe how much I snagged this chambray dress for! Old Navy had this bad boy on sale for $12! There is absolutely nothing more versatile than chambray, as you’re about to see. You can wear it with some Keds, or dress it up with some mint pumps. I love this look with all of its pastel touches. It screams springtime to me! I’m also obsessing over this gorgeous layered pearl necklace local CS Gems sent me. It is a perfect and timeless piece to have in your jewelry collection. It dressed up this look just perfectly. Be sure to check our their shop for the most unique pieces to add some flare to any outfit. These ladies search high and low for stunning vintage jewelry and sell it at AMAZING prices! Their jewelry is exquisite and I’m so fortunate to be able to add it my collection.

Wednesday Wants [Part One]

I was scrolling through my Bloglovin‘ feed as I often do several times a day and was inspired to start a new series on the blog. Each Wednesday I’d like to share my ‘wants’ at the moment. Some may be realistic, while others can be complete dream pieces. It’s going to be a fun way for me to show you all what I’m drooling over and hopefully you’ll partake and share some of yours with me, too! This week’s list is very spring-inspired. I’m super bummed that the St. Louis weather decided to go arctic on us again, so I’m living vicariously through these beautiful items!

1. Kendra Scott ‘Danielle’ Oval Statement Earrings | 2. John Lewis Dip Dye Scarf | 3. Sam Edelman Brayden d’Orsay Flats | 4. TOPSHOP Apricot Scallop Hem Shorts | 5. Kate Spade Scallop Pocket iPhone case | 6. Dooney & Bourke Kingston Hobo [I spy this beauty on my local blogger friend Jacqueline’s blog! I’ve been eyeing it for weeks and weeks — love!]

I’m adoring these sunny pops of colors, springy neutrals and the fun scallops! Have a great Wednesday, loves!

Q&A Friday

  • When did you start your blog and how did you decide on the name?

I’ve talked about this before, but I started my blog just over two years ago. I was taking a class on online journalism and we had to create a blog. Like, we were being graded on it and were forced to blog at least once a week. We literally had to pick a topic to blog about and a blog name in the span of one class. I’ve always “blogged” from my Xanga days to Tumblr, but never anything like this. I’d really been getting into fashion blogs at the time, so I went with that. As for a name…well, I didn’t put too much thought into it. I thought I’d write a post a week for the remainder of the class and never think of it again. Boy, was I wrong! The longer I’ve had it, the more the name has grown on me. I mean, it’s me, and this is my blog.

Check out one of my first ever posts here.

  • What is your favorite thing to blog about?

At the heart of it, my blog is about fashion and style. I love love love blogging about what I wear and the deals I snagged up. Although, the longer I blog the more I love delving into more lifestyle-type posts. Whether it’s on trips Mike and I take, new local spots I’ve visited, or DIYs. I think that’s the beauty of having a blog — you can write about whatever you want. I’d like to think people come for the style posts and stay for my everyday ramblings.

  • What’s the most important thing you’ve learned about blogging?

Oh boy. I’ve learned so much in two years. The most important thing, though, is not rushing anything. Don’t go into blogging haphazardly like I was forced to. I think that really threw me off there for awhile. Once I started taking real ownership of my blog and thought of it more than just a grade, the more I loved doing it. Plan posts out and don’t seek out free things and making money. Do it first and foremost because you love it. Once I started really loving my blog was when I really started getting noticed for amazing opportunities. It will come in good time!

  • Is it hard to juggle your blog and the real world?

It can be. I’m not going to lie. There are days, maybe even weeks, where I feel so overwhelmed and the last thing I want to do is blog about what I’ve been wearing and where I’ve been shopping. For the longest time I put so much pressure on myself and then one day I realized that this shouldn’t be stressing me out. This should be something I want to do because it’s fun! Sometimes the best thing to do is step away for a little bit and come back refreshed. I still do that from time-to-time and I think it really helps.

  • What’s been the greatest thing that’s come of your blog?

I’ve had some amazing opportunities and collaborations in the last few years, but the one that still sticks out to me the most was attending last year’s Spring Saint Louis Fashion Week. One day I received an email inviting me to STLFW and next thing I know my blog shot to the next level. It’s been amazing and I’ll always remember that time in my life and the real start of my blog’s success. I’m so grateful.

  • How often do you blog?

On a good week I aim for three posts a week. Monday, Wednesday and Friday with the occasional Sunday post.

  • Favorite designer?

Yikes…after all these years I still have to go with Ralph Lauren. Everything he does from casual-wear to couture is timeless and amazing to me.

  • Favorite store?

It’s definitely a tie between J. Crew and Old Navy. I don’t need a high end department store to get my fashion fix.

  • Favorite online store?

GroopDealz…it’s not really 100% fashion related, but that’s why I like it! I buy 95% of my jewelry there.

  • Favorite beauty product — high end?

Any M.A.C lipstick, really. Especially Ruby Woo! Oh, I also have to include Benefit’s POREfessional. I use it everyday!

  • Favorite beauty product — drugstore?

I love all NYX lip products, especially their butter glosses.

  • Favorite trend right now?

I don’t really do trends. If I had to choose… mid-length skirts and shift blouses. They’re so classy!

  • What do you see yourself doing in the future? Still blogging?

Well, I’m getting a degree in Media Communications. I’ve interned twice for marketing-esque jobs. I love anything to do with marketing, promotions, social media, event planning, designing — is there something that encompasses all of these things?! If not, I want to work from home doing all of those thing whilst continuing to blog about everything I love. If I could ever be so lucky to make blogging my full-time profession I think I’d just die.

  • What’s something you’d like your bloggers to come away with from reading your blog?

That it is 100% possible to be stylish shopping the sale racks and clearance sections. The more you save there, the more you can spoil yourself with timeless pieces that you can keep in your wardrobe forever. You’re all worth it! Oh, and put on some red lipstick! It will change your life :)

Love you all!! xoxo
